The Wizard visits Faulkner to check in with him after the wedding. The two have a pleasant conversation catching up and talking about the state of the world before the conversation turns sour when the Wizard learns that Faulkner was the one to steal the egg, and currently has it in their possession.
[The Wizard steps out of the Nether portal in the woods near Faulkner and Ollie’s cottage. He approaches the front door and knocks, waiting a few minutes. When no one answers, he pushes the door open.]
[18:09:54] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Hello?
[18:10:16] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Hmm, I suppose I probably didn't do a great job of saying when I'd be by...
[He finds the cozy interior to be empty.]
[18:10:46] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Huh, must be around somewhere, I suppose
[The Wizard heads outside.]
[18:11:13] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Faulkner, are you around?
[He glides down towards the entrance to a dripstone cave, where a banner flutters in the wind, accompanied by two signs.]
[18:11:46] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Huh...
[18:12:01] <✦[rp] The Wizard> ...The Astroplane
[18:12:09] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Woah, dangerous down there
[The Wizard cups his hands over his mouth and calls down.]
[18:12:22] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Faulkner, are you down there?
[There’s the sound of a beat of wings, and Faulkner swoops up just above the dripstone.]
[18:12:47] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, there you are! Hello
[It lands beside the Wizard, smoothing its clothes.]
[18:12:50] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh, hello
[18:12:57] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I'm hoping you got my letter
[18:13:06] <✦[rp] The Wizard> ...Otherwise this would seem quite odd
[18:13:03] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I did
[18:13:07] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Good, good!
[18:13:18] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I just wanted to check in with you, I know it's been some time...
[18:13:28] <✦Faulkner [rp]> It has
[18:14:14] <✦[rp] The Wizard> A lot has happened since we last spoke, and...well I'm sorry if anything I did at that wedding has soured your view of me
[Faulkner flicks his ear, looking off into the distance.]
[18:14:50] <✦Faulkner [rp]> The wedding was... an experience
[18:14:57] <✦Faulkner [rp]> to say the least
[18:15:11] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Sure enough...don't think I'd be wanting to go to another one of those any time soon
[18:15:26] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Certainly not
[18:16:05] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Should we head up to the cottage, might be better than out here in the elements, if you'd be so inclined
[18:16:31] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Ah, sure
[The two walk up the hill together, entering into the cottage. Faulkner gestures to the sitting room.]
[18:17:12] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Feel free to sit down
[The Wizard takes a seat on the couch.]
[18:17:17] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, thank you!
[Faulkner joins him, sitting on the opposite end. They rest their hands on their lap, which have become dragon-like paws, clawed and thick with fur.]
[18:17:26] <✦[rp] The Wizard> So, tell me, how have you and Ollie been?
[18:19:07] <✦Faulkner [rp]> We have been alright. Not up to much after the wedding. Especially since the meeting we had after..
[18:19:37] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh? I hadn't heard much from Wisteria after the event, is everything alright?
[Faulkner has a look of disgust on his face, slightly distressed.]
[18:19:56] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Doc's arm started talking.
[18:20:08] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah...right...that's been an, er, ongoing issue
[18:20:29] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It's not very pleasant, but we're trying to find a cure!
[18:20:41] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I wouldn't know. I've been avoiding him
[18:20:58] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You and him don't get along very well, do you?
[18:21:03] <✦Faulkner [rp]> No.
[Faulkner smooths down the fur on its arms.]
[18:21:17] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Freaks me out
[18:21:27] <✦[rp] The Wizard> He's a bit odd, but means well
[18:21:40] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Hm
[18:21:46] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I feel like most of us are like that, in a way
[With distaste: ]
[18:22:06] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I've noticed
[18:22:32] <✦[rp] The Wizard> So, how have you been doing?
[18:22:49] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I know you were missing home last we talked, but I can't imagine that's changed all too much
[Faulkner waves its paw, flexing its claws.]
[18:23:54] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I've been managing. Come to some recent personal realizations which have made it easier I suppose
[18:24:16] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, that sounds great!
[18:24:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Coming to terms with things can make life easier
[Faulkner nods.]
[The Wizard smiles as one of Faulkner’s allays flits about in the air, tugging on its hair, landing on its shoulders, and coming up to the Wizard to investigate.
[18:25:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Now where ever did you find these silly creatures?
[He points to one currently nestled on top of Faulkner’s head.]
[18:25:15] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh!
[18:25:52] <✦Faulkner [rp]> An outpost I believe. I got them a while ago so my memory is a tad fuzzy
[18:26:18] <✦[rp] The Wizard> They must be a recent creation, or at least, somewhat recent-
[18:26:33] <✦[rp] The Wizard> They seem quite affectionate, like little flying cat-faeries
[18:27:17] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Yes they are nice. Have a tendency to wander, though
[18:27:37] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I see that you've got them safe in here for that reason, then
[18:27:47] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Once one of them got thousands of blocks away when they were let out on accident
[18:27:57] <✦[rp] The Wizard> By the Void! They really do wander!
[18:28:06] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Its important to keep an eye on them
[18:28:12] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It would seem so
[18:28:22] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Poor things would be lost wandering too far
[Faulkner nods.]
[18:28:49] <✦Faulkner [rp]> They don't seem to have a great sense of direction
[18:29:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> No, no, seems they're guided by some whims only they understand
[18:29:31] <✦Faulkner [rp]> They're cute though. Nice to have around
[18:29:36] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Very much so
[The Wizard gently catches one on his finger as he leans back into the couch.]
[18:29:56] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Have you been caught up in the happenings on the server recently?
[18:30:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Seems everything's happening at once these days
[18:30:52] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I'm not. I don't leave wisteria much. Not to the other factions at least
[18:31:10] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, I see
[The Wizard sighs.]
[18:31:29] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Prince has been messing about with Corroded
[18:32:20] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I suppose it's Malfaction business as well, but while Punk's staying with us, he's one of our own
[18:31:56] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Prince kidnapped Dan's husband, Punk, and kept him trapped in a basement for a week
[Faulkner looks suddenly disturbed by this, flicking both ears back.]
[18:32:28] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Thats... something
[18:32:56] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Yeah, that cat is something else, I was curious if he's spread anything to Wisteria besides to Doc-
[18:33:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> But seems maybe you wouldn't know
[18:34:05] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I haven't seen anything around. But it has been a while since I've been to Larkspur. I've been caught up in other things
[18:34:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh? I was curious about whatever you've got going on from that cave you flew up out of
[18:34:50] <✦[rp] The Wizard> The Astroplane, was it?
[18:35:01] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Yes
[Faulkner holds his head in his paw, as if thinking about something. The Wizard leans forward, curious.]
[18:35:43] <✦[rp] The Wizard> What is it about?
[18:36:35] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Nothing much really. I've decorated it. Sleep down there occasionally. Houses aren't much of my thing
[18:37:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, do you prefer sleeping under the stars? Or is that tunnel dug deep into a cave?
[18:38:25] <✦Faulkner [rp]> It's shallow all things considered. Theres a hole to the surface. I didn't do that much terraforming in terms of making it bigger
[18:39:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Comfortable at least, then?
[18:39:17] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Very much
[18:39:28] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Mm, that sounds very nice then
[18:39:56] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I suppose if I lived out in a place as nice as this, I'd want to enjoy the beauty of it every day
[18:40:31] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Its nice. A bit hot for my tastes though
[18:40:42] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, do you prefer the cold?
[18:41:26] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I lived on mountain in my old world. Always snowing
[18:42:10] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh I see! Probably nice to have a thick coat then
[18:42:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I think I've gotten to the point in age that I'll always need a wool coat to wear over anything I could grow
[18:43:18] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Especially visiting a place like the Malfaction
[Faulkner scoffs.]
[18:44:00] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Couldn't imagine, my fur keeps me warm just fine
[18:44:08] <✦Faulkner [rp]> At least as of late
[18:44:19] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Treasure it while you can!
[18:44:38] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Though, I suppose I don't know if you age like I do...
[18:44:42] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Or like other players do
[18:45:20] <✦Faulkner [rp]> The concept is beyond me a little. Only time will tell I guess
[18:45:57] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I suppose!
[18:46:16] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I don't even know if the two of us are similar species of dragon at all, come to think of it
[18:46:31] <✦[rp] The Wizard> From what you've told me, we do come from very different places
[18:47:52] <✦Faulkner [rp]> That's true. I have seen plenty of different dragons before. Except ones like you and I
[18:48:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You seem to be able to access abilities outside of this form, which I've found fascinating
[18:48:43] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I haven't been able to do that for...well for a long time now
[18:49:39] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Its a recent development. The ability left me for quite a while. I can't shift fully yet, but I'm grateful to have some of it back
[18:50:09] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Really? That's interesting
[18:50:16] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Did this develop while you were here?
[18:50:59] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I could do it in my old world. To a much greater scale. But I lost the ability when I first arrived
[18:51:33] <✦[rp] The Wizard> That is something...and you slowly regained it back over time?
[18:51:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Huh...
[18:52:23] <✦[rp] The Wizard> That is curious for certain-
[18:52:30] <✦Faulkner [rp]> It returned recently. Or what I consider recently
[18:52:44] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I see...
[18:52:58] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Do you know if anything in particular seemed to be a catalyst for its return?
[18:53:19] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I have ideas, yes
[18:53:42] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Hmm, I see
[18:54:08] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I'm sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious as to whether or not your abilities are connected to the Unknown
[18:54:14] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Or if they're something else entirely
[18:54:27] <✦[rp] The Wizard> From what you've said, they don't seem connected, but well, what do I know
[Faulker perks up at the mention of that. The Wizard looks concerned.]
[18:55:08] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Were you worried they were?
[Faulkner shakes its head.]
[18:55:13] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I'm still not entirely sure what the Unknown even are. For as much as the rest of you talk about them
[18:55:30] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I've never gotten the chance to ask
[18:55:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, yes, and I'm sure Ollie's a bit cagey about those questions
[18:55:47] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Unknown are sort of like gods, in a way
[18:55:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Deities is more accurate
[18:55:59] <✦[rp] The Wizard> They hold a lot of power
[18:56:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Or at least, some of em do
[18:56:21] <✦[rp] The Wizard> They make the rules for the universe, is the simple answer, and to break those rules is a cardinal sin
[18:56:37] <✦[rp] The Wizard> A lot of us have made that cardinal sin, but have found sanctuary here
[18:57:01] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Anyway, that's the gist
[18:57:27] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I see. I guess thats why everyone seems so afraid of them
[18:57:38] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Indeed, it is
[18:58:26] <✦[rp] The Wizard> The last world we were in was destroyed in a horrible way by one of em
[18:58:30] <✦[rp] The Wizard> And uh...
[18:58:35] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh?
[18:58:52] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Do you know who Oliver was?
[Faulkner sits up.]
[18:59:06] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I do
[18:59:11] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Sort of
[18:59:17] <✦[rp] The Wizard> So Ollie did tell you, that's good then
[The Wizard pauses.]
[18:59:24] <✦[rp] The Wizard> What did he tell you?
[18:59:57] <✦Faulkner [rp]> He told me he and Oliver were married. And that Oliver left. Or is gone. Something like that
[19:00:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I see.
[19:19:23] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I didn't know him very well, we spoke maybe twice when I arrived in Untitled
[19:19:36] <✦[rp] The Wizard> But he made the greatest sacrifice to save all of our lives
[19:19:51] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh..?
[19:20:32] <✦[rp] The Wizard> The journey demanded a life, and he was willing to give his to save everyone, though mostly Ollie, I think
[19:20:55] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh.
[19:21:01] <✦Faulkner [rp]> So...
[19:21:10] <✦Faulkner [rp]> He's... dead?
[19:21:17] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Yes, he died in the last world
[19:21:27] <✦[rp] The Wizard> At least, as far as I know
[19:21:32] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Hm
[19:21:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> He could be alive somewhere, but I doubt it
[19:21:41] <✦[rp] The Wizard> He'd come back for Ollie
[19:22:16] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I'd hope so. Ollie mentioned something to me about marriage being 'forever'
[The Wizard smiles sadly, and nods, he twists the ring on his finger.]

[19:23:15] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Anyway!
[19:23:28] <✦[rp] The Wizard> That's why it's so important that we stay on good terms with one another
[19:23:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It's not a matter of if they come, but when
[19:23:48] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Tad ominous
[19:24:10] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I know, but it's important we stay vigilant
[19:23:50] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It's why the treaty was so important, and it's my fault it's gone now, but the egg-
[19:23:55] <✦[rp] The Wizard> The egg meant something
[Faulkner frowns at this, they fidget with their hands. The fur on them sticks up, and begins to slowly grow out from their arms. They mutter something under their breath.]
[19:25:24] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Hmm, what was that?
[Slightly mocking: ]
[19:26:19] <✦Faulkner [rp]> the egg meant something
[19:26:22] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I'm sure it did
[Careful: ]
[19:26:31] <✦[rp] The Wizard> What do you mean by that?
[19:26:48] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It symbolized the relationship between factions, given up willingly by Dan
[Faulkner bristles, a growl begins low in the back of its throat, almost inaudible.]
[19:27:27] <✦Faulkner [rp]> You all speak of it like its some object! Like its an item. A toy to play with
[19:27:54] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Its alive
[The Wizard is taken aback, a sudden dread creeping up his spine.]
[19:28:15] <✦[rp] The Wizard> What do you mean that
[Faulkner almost laughs, his eyes seem to glow.]
[19:29:11] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh come on now. I know you aren't stupid. What do you think I mean?
[The Wizard lets out a huff of air through his nose. So now we show our cards.]
[19:29:19] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Alright, well then
[He feels stupid for not realizing earlier.]
[19:29:23] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I never suspected-
[19:29:27] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You...have it?
[Definitive: ]
[19:29:31] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You took it.
[Faulkner stills. There’s a slight tremble to his frame, but not from fear. He tips his chin up.]
[19:30:25] <✦Faulkner [rp]> So what if I did?
[With growing anger: ]
[19:30:41] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Faulkner, that egg means something to everyone on this server
[19:30:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> By taking it, if you took it, you've thrown everything up in the air
[Faulkner lets out a cackle, roaring with bared fangs of righteousness.]
[19:32:18] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh really? Did it? Did it really? Was your peace so fragile you needed to use a living being just to keep it intact?
[19:32:32] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Leave it to sit outside in the overworld in the middle of the ocean alone?
[Rambling: ]
[19:33:00] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It's precious, but like how a stone is precious, do you know the lengths-
[19:33:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Even if it was-
[19:33:11] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It's not alive, there's no way
[19:33:53] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Why wouldn't it be? Huh? Says who?
[19:34:28] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Science! The majority of dragon eggs in the End aren't viable
[19:34:42] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Even if it was alive, that doesn't mean you should've taken it anyway
[19:35:19] <✦[rp] The Wizard> There are other things to consider, the principle of it!
[19:35:24] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Excuse me for not standing by and letting you all neglect it
[19:35:33] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Principle of WHAT?!
[The Wizard snarls.]
[19:35:46] <✦[rp] The Wizard> This whole server! This whole community!
[He calms himself, taking in a deep breath. Quietly: ]
[19:37:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Where is it?
[19:37:13] <✦[rp] The Wizard> It should be with Dan, anyway
[Faulkner almost laughs at the stupidity of the question.]
[19:37:22] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Why would I tell you
[The Wizard shakes his head, he can’t take it by force even if he did know where it was, not alone.]
[19:37:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I don't know, I don't want to threaten you
[He looks up from where his gaze was pointed at the floor, making sharp eye contact with Faulkner.]
[19:38:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> But when I tell Dan about this
[19:38:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh…
[19:38:09] <✦[rp] The Wizard> A storm will come for you
[Faulkner growls again, and this time there’s a threat behind it. He draws his sword.]
[19:39:19] * ✦Faulkner [rp] growls, taking out its sword
[The Wizard lifts his hands.]
[19:39:32] <✦[rp] The Wizard> If that's how it's gonna be
[19:39:33] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Say shit like that again and I'll take off your head
[19:39:38] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Leave.
[The Wizard keeps his stance, and backs away. He gives Faulkner a nod.]
[19:39:44] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I'll be seeing you.
[The Wizard pushes through the door, and disappears off into the forest.]
