[Faulkner, in search of some advice, arrives at the Sheriff’s Office in Verdigris, he knocks gently on the front door.]

[The Wizard looks up from his desk, where he’s been writing in a notebook. He sees someone waiting outside.]

[18:07:57] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Howdy how can I help you-

[18:08:00] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh hello!

[18:08:06] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Come on in through that door there

[The Wizard raises his eyebrows.]

[18:08:22] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Faulkner, bit of a surprise to see you here!

[18:08:27] <✦[rp] The Wizard> How can I help you today, something up?

[18:08:46] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I was looking for you, actually

[18:08:51] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh!

[18:08:53] <✦Faulkner [rp]> You were easier to find than I thought

[The Wizard grins widely.]

[18:09:05] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I try to be

[18:09:18] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Is this about the wedding nonsense?

[18:09:25] <✦Faulkner [rp]> No

[18:09:35] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, something else Wisterian business then?

[Faulkner shakes their head.]

[18:10:01] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, shoot then, what's on your mind?

[18:10:43] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Well.. I uhm- I wanted to ask you some questions about... things

[Faulkner’s eyes move around the room. He shuffles uncomfortably.]

[18:10:53] <✦[rp] The Wizard> ...Things?

[18:10:56] <✦[rp] The Wizard> What sort of things?

[Faulkner pauses, drawing in a breath before speaking quickly.]

[18:11:33] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Could we maybe go somewhere more private? Less likely for someone to pop in

[The Wizard stands, closing his book and tucking Null into its carrying case.]

[18:11:44] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Ah, yes, I was just about to suggest, follow me upstairs

[Faulkner follows the Wizard up the stairs and into the Wizard’s apartment. The Wizard gestures to a small table.]

[18:11:58] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You can take a seat here at the table

[The Wizard walks into his kitchen, and begins digging through the cupboards.]

[18:12:06] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You got any preference for tea or coffee?

[18:12:09] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Water?

[18:12:11] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Nothing at all?

[He pokes his head out to look at Faulker.]

[18:12:15] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I've got a fully pantry

[18:12:15] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Tea is fine

[The Wizard nods.]

[18:12:24] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I'll get it brewin

[Faulkner waits patiently as the Wizard brews a kettle of tea. He pours two cups of tea, setting one in front of Faulkner.]

[18:13:34] <✦[rp] The Wizard> There you are

[18:13:40] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Thank you

[The Wizard takes a seat, hands wrapped around his own mug.]

[18:13:50] <✦[rp] The Wizard> So what's got you comin all the way out to Corroded to talk to me?

[Faulkner takes a sip of tea.]

[18:14:22] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Well..

[18:15:14] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I've been having some... personal issues? I suppose? Ones I don't feel like I could discuss with most others

[18:15:20] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh?

[18:15:33] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I don't think they would understand where I am coming from

[The Wizard furrows his brow, leaning back slightly.]

[18:15:54] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Forgive me if I'm a bit surprised you're comin' to me about this

[18:16:26] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I'm always willing to be an open mind, and old pair of ears though

[18:17:01] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Thank you. I realize it is a bit odd, however, I did not make the decision lightly

[The Wizard nods.]

[18:18:13] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I think it would be easiest for me to simply lay out some things

[18:20:25] <✦Faulkner [rp]> See, before this world, I came from a place of magic. Where you could grasp the power of the stars as a physical object. A world of dragons and other beasts

[18:20:33] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Much, much different from here

[18:20:43] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Fascinating...

[18:21:12] <✦[rp] The Wizard> The vastness of our universe has always astounded me

[Faulkner flicks his ear.]

[18:22:23] <✦Faulkner [rp]> It's certainly something...

[18:23:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Did you have to leave?

[18:23:23] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Seems like quite a change in location

[18:23:24] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Technically no

[18:23:35] <✦Faulkner [rp]> But I felt drawn to do so

[18:23:44] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I was drawn here

[18:23:54] <✦Faulkner [rp]> and I suppose I am struggling to understand why

[18:24:06] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I was about to ask, how did you make your way to this world?

[18:24:10] <✦[rp] The Wizard> To Untitled?

[18:25:12] <✦Faulkner [rp]> When I had first clawed my way out of my old world, I found myself in a hallway. Large. Hollow. Seemingly endless

[18:25:26] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I did not know where I was going or what I was meant to do

[18:25:31] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Huh...

[18:25:49] <✦[rp] The Wizard> But you were drawn here?

[18:26:03] <✦Faulkner [rp]> I was

[18:26:09] <✦[rp] The Wizard> And you have no idea why?

[18:26:17] <✦Faulkner [rp]> No.

[The Wizard leans back in his chair, scratching his chin.]

[18:26:32] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Fascinating

[18:26:42] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Have you found what you were looking for now?

[18:27:39] <✦Faulkner [rp]> No. Which is why I came here. There is no magic of this world beyond the simple enchantments and potions

[18:27:48] <✦Faulkner [rp]> My connection to the stars is gone

[18:27:55] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, I think I see now

[18:28:00] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You miss your home

[18:28:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> And you can't go back

[18:28:12] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Or at least, you don't know how

[Faulkner speaks quietly. There is emotion in his voice, but it's not tense or tender or terse. It’s just there, hanging onto every syllable.]

[The Wizard softens.]

[18:28:50] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Oh, kid, I'm sorry

[18:28:55] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I-

[18:29:12] <✦Faulkner [rp]> and I've been trying and trying and trying to find out why I'm here and I just can't figure it out

[Gently: ]

[18:29:05] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I understand how you feel more than you could ever know

[Faulkner sighs]

[Waves its hand slightly]

[18:31:01] <✦Faulkner [rp]> You seemed more magically inclined than the others I suppose. You are draconic. You remind me of home in a sense

[18:31:10] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Plus you seem more... normal

[The Wizard chuckles quietly.]

[18:31:39] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I suppose I am draconic, and both by name and title I suppose I am magically inclined

[18:32:03] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Normal, I believe is mostly accurate in comparison to the absolute insanity that surrounds us on the day-to-day, but-

[The Wizard rambles, he’s trying to watch Faulkner’s face, but it just watches him intently.]

[18:32:22] <✦[rp] The Wizard> You're looking for something to replace what you lost

[18:33:04] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Or perhaps to find someone who might know a way back- I can't begin to figure-

[He waves his hands, dismissing his ramblings.]

[18:33:38] <✦Faulkner [rp]> Oh- uhm

[18:35:45] <✦Faulkner [rp]> The night sky was much different there. Completely different stars. The materials there could channel starlight into objects. Into your body. There is nothing like that here

[18:36:20] <✦[rp] The Wizard> Magic using starlight...now that is novel

[The Wizard looks away, and snorts softly through his nose.]

[Faulkner chuckles, pressing his lips together.]

[Faulkner scoffs, looking the Wizard up and down.]

[The Wizard laughs a hearty bellow; he’s not used to talking to people with so much spunk.]

[18:44:21] <✦Faulkner [rp]> You don't strike me as the fighting type

[Graciously.]

[18:44:37] <✦[rp] The Wizard> I fight with my words, and even then, I'm not very good

[Faulkner shifts, unsure.]

[The Wizard sees the look on Faulkner’s face, and turns away. His shoulders begin to droop slightly, and he rubs his face.]

[Faulkner scowls, he thought the Wizard would understand this better, but maybe he wasn’t clear enough: ]
