Season "0"

Untitled begins with the escape of a young person on the run from the Unknown that seek to destroy him.

His name is Ollie, and the Void loves him.

As Ollie flees from another corrupted world, he grows tired of running. Using a stolen and jailbroken Linter called "Null", Ollie manages to locate a list of blacklisted Players like himself. He seeks them out, and invites them to live in a sanctuary away from the prying eyes and iron rule of the Unknown.

Using Null, Ollie is able to inject code into a new world. However, the code isn't as stable as needed, and in the end, the world corrupts, and the residents have to flee.

Season 1

Not everyone who lived within the first world joined the other in their escape, but fortunately, this new world was a lot more stable.

Things went back to normal, as they often do at the beginning. Of course, they had to start completely from scratch again, but in the end, things were looking much better for the players. Homes were built, friendships were made, and everything seemed finally alright.

But as they always do, the Unknown found them.

Except not quite.

A small group of Observers accidentally found the world of [Untitled]. They would have never expected to find a server in this prohibited part of the void, how intriguing. While they could just report it and hope the higher ups could look past them being in a place they shouldn’t be, they had to know what this weirdly coded world contained, was it just a scrapped or unfinished world made by a Creator? Or was it just completely inhabitable. But they never expected to find a world containing a group of players, of errors that managed to escape them. Well this is interesting.

While they could call on a higher ranking Unknown to report to, they knew the Programmer who they would report to would take all the credit. It isn’t every day you find one of the most annoying errors, rogue players, so many in a single place, it’s practically a free pass into becoming a higher rank. And they couldn't throw away such a big opportunity. Problem is … something was off with this world, for some reason they didn’t have the permissions to modify it’s code in any way. They tried but none of their skills were of any use here. This was going to be harder than they thought. But if they couldn’t interfere with the world, maybe someone else could.

Equinoxe was a lone terraformer, who somehow got called upon by these Observers. Normally observers have no business talking to a terraformer, so Equinoxe was curious yet cautious. But they certainly did not expect their task to be infiltrating a corrupted server. They were told to build a castle, one that would be the host of the observers “plan”, they were very vague, but as long as they did not get affected by it, they did not care what those observers were plotting.

Not only were they tasked with building, but also being a messenger. Equinoxe was told to make their presence clear, by making symbols around the server, they wanted to scare the players it seems like. But while some players we’re concerned, they knew they were untouchable by the Unknown, some even became curious and attempted to talk with them, through signs and letters. And they spoke back.

Equinoxe still wasn’t fully aware of what the Observers were doing, they only obtained small clues by eavesdropping on their conversations. Discussions of “infecting” them and their world, which made no sense to Equinoxe, and so they continued with their castle, while speaking to the players who dared communicate with them through letters. They were mostly sending letters written by the other Unknown, and weren’t interested in meaningless conversations as they had to fulfill their task, but a certain player caught their attention. Something about [Player_Atlas] seemed different to them, their conversations were profound and they found them simply delightful. But they knew better than to become attached to a player. Nothing good ever comes out of it.

The castle was finished at last.

Equinoxe was finally told what their true purpose was. The observers wanted to play a “game” with the players. But in actuality it was a dangerous infection disguised as a game. While the observers couldn’t exactly modify or delete anything on the server or its players, what they could do is instead add a “virus”, created by themselves, that would make them undead and devoid them of their emotions and personality. Except they couldn’t spread it around themselves, but only the players could give it to each other, so making it a “game” was their perfect trojan horse. The castle would serve as the host for this, and provide the players the rules of the game, but they never mentioned how the game would actually end. They were promised many riches to the last surviving, and everyone would be given life again once it was over, but in actuality that was never the plan. The undead are bound to turn on eachother, and they would find a way to tear themselves apart, they would practically do the job for them!

And while the terraformer wasn’t supposed to care about the players, it seemed a bit cruel to leave them to this fate. And it would be a shame to cut their communication with Player_Atlas so soon. So before leaving the clues for the players, unbeknownst to the observers, they altered the virus. They knew this would have terrible consequences, and they weren’t quite sure if they were ready for the repercussions. But perhaps it was worth it, as their dear player, Atlas, confessed their feelings.

Demise began.

The game of death began, and was a terrible bloody battle between Players. However, the Players managed to free themselves from the game, and escaped into the next world.

Season 2

Once again, the Players are forced to begin again. For a long time, life is good. Some people leave, while others arrive. Life is quiet and good, but the looming threat always has the Players looking over their shoulders.

Eventually, an enterprising Unknown takes advantage of an update to Untitled, and places a line of corrupted Void into the world. At first, it doesn't spread enough to cause damage, just a few patches of dark "corrupted" blocks around the Spawn area.

Once the threat has been determined to be just a random glitch, the Players pay it no mind. Many of them pass by the patches of corrupted ground without much of a second thought.

The enterprising Unknown begins to leave statues waiting for the Players, giant angels of stone decorated with precious, rare items. The Players begin to track them down, realizing that they triangulated on a specific point, where they found a massive statue below telling them that soon they would be returned to the Code, and to seek out a communication location near Joco Serious's home deep in the spruce forest.

The Players began to start communicating with the Unknown. Some asked what its purpose was, others asked it for mercy, some tried and failed to seduce it. The Unknown clearly had one goal. Destroy these pesky little flawed Players.

The Unknown made their final move, and began to spread the corruption deep within the world. Many different locations were completely destroyed, Spawn, the Wizard's Garden, and the Void hole were all such examples. The Players began to realize that they needed to make their escape soon, or they wouldn't be able to escape at all.

They managed to escape into a place known as the "Hallways", but not without casualties. Oliver, Ollie's husband, sacrificed himself in order to allow the other members of Untitled to survive.

The Untitled Players were left to fend for themselves within the cold and desolate passageways used by the Unknown known as the "Hallways".

Season 3

Following their hasty escape from the season two world, the denizens of Untitled travel through “The Hallways”, the strange passageways between worlds utilized by Unknown. During these travels the members have to fight for their survival against the threats from within the halls. Several do not survive the journey, and others are permanently scarred from fighting with every bit of themselves for their survival.

Many members no longer feel like they can trust others, and small unnamed groups begin to form within group members. Some begin to form around the Voidwalker, who is the only reason they haven’t been returned to the code entirely, others follow the sardonic self-proclaimed whore, and the rest find solace in one another’s company.

Eventually, they find a new home in a world safe away from the eyes of the Unknown. They wrap the void around them tight, and make a home together on the first island they can find. They stay together in hopes they can mend the cracks that formed during the travel through the hallways. This only seems to drive them all further apart, and three distinct groups begin to form.

There is another there, and he is surprised to see others have found the place he accidentally crash landed. He is brought into the ranks of those who have grown a fondness for deep forests and mushrooms. The other two groups break off, splintering to the East, the ones of the cold and snow and darkness, and the West, the ones who find comfort in the hot mesa desert.

Eventually, these groups name themselves Malfaction, Wisteria, and Corroded.

There are few true tensions between these groups for a long time, besides those between individual members. They stay friendly, and their borders are mostly open.

Eventually, the dragon known as “The Wizard” invites them all together for a meeting to discuss the current climate between factions. They decide to sign a peace treaty, agreeing to keep a tentative peace in the case of another breach by the Unknown. As a show of good faith, the Corroded member, Dan, begrudgingly volunteers the dragon egg to be placed in the center of the gazebo, symbolizing the strong forged bonds between the three factions.

Life continues as normal for most of the factions. In a more personal vein, Doc invites the Wizard over for tea, and the two end up discussing Doc’s origins. Doc shows the Wizard the portal he is constructing to help him get home, and the Wizard agrees to try his best to help.

The two eventually have a meeting with Ollie, who the Wizard believes may be able to fill in the gaps for both of them. Together, they come to the hypothesis that Doc is from another Universe entirely, and that when he was brought to Untitled, he was “translated” by the code into a Player. The Wizard borrows Ollie’s Linter, Null, and begins to use it to translate Doc’s code.

Deep in the tundra King Ceph has grown bored. Spurred by their court of loyal yes-men, Ceph decides to crash a meeting of the Wisterians, and demand that they be entertained. Eventually, Ceph figures that they want to marry Doc, the Wisterian President. Doc is vehemently against this, but after the Malfaction does a show of strength, the Wisterians relent, and agree to the engagement.

Joco meets up with the Wizard at his office in Verdigris. They discuss what happened in Larkspur with the forced union, and the Wizard updates Joco on the work he’s been doing with Null, the Linter he was loaned by Ollie following their conversation with Doc. The Wizard shows Joco what he’s been working on, trying to read Doc’s code to see if he can find a way to get him home. The Wizard also asks if he can scan Joco’s code while they’re there, and Joco agrees.

In Wisteria, Ollie, Ion, and Flick happen to all be in the dye shop in Larkspur when they are rudely interrupted by a randomly appearing Ceph. Ceph demands that they help with the wedding, which Ollie is surprised Ceph hasn’t forgotten about. Ollie and Ceph argue, but eventually come to the agreement that Ollie will help plan the wedding, since he’s done so before.

While in Doc’s manor home, Doc and Flick are interrupted by a suddenly arriving convoy of the Malfaction. They drag Doc and Flick with them, and give the two Wisterians the grand tour of Malfaction. Doc and Ceph have a chance to talk outside of tense negotiations, and Ceph begins to have second thoughts. They are also increasingly off-put by Prince, who has been displaying some odd behaviors in the past several weeks, especially around making sure the marriage happens.

The Wizard invites as many members of Corroded who wish to join to a discussion of the events on the server. They discuss the wedding, the relationship between Doc and Ceph, and even get into some of their own personal background. The meeting is crashed when a snooping Prince arrives, spreading sculk and explaining why he likes it so much. After monologuing about it for a while and answering questions, the Corroded folks attempt to run him out of town, but he sticks around the periphery. Eventually, Finch suggests that Corroded make an explosive mark on the wedding, mostly for their own enjoyment. Dan and Joco are in agreement, especially after Prince comes to crash their meeting. The Wizard is unsure, but after Prince threatens to cover the mesa in sculk in all but a few words, he decides to side with them, and contribute to the plans.

Finally having figured out enough of the mystery of Doc to report back, the Wizard returns to Wisteria to meet with Doc. He reveals that he has learned Doc’s entity name, Gateway, and that he believes it’s because when Doc was translated into the Code, part of his portal was too, and now he has pieces of blocks stuck inside him. Despite an interruption by Prince, who was hoping to talk to Doc about sculk, the Wizard and Doc manage to gather all the materials they need to build a machine to extract the blocks from Doc. With Prince watching on from the sidelines, the Wizard manages to remove all four blocks from inside Doc’s code. They reveal to each poses letters that spell out “Gateway” along with each having a random string of numbers and letters. After Prince attempts to steal some of the blocks, and begrudgingly returns them, Doc and the Wizard agree to convene after the wedding to continue their work.

In the nether, Prince and the Wizard walk towards home, and the Wizard begins to ask some touchy questions about what he found in Prince’s code. The conversation revealed strange things neither of them expected, and ended with the Wizard having learned some dark truths about what Prince is and where he came from.

Ion and Ollie travel to Malfaction to meet up with Prince and Ceph to make preparations for the wedding. They choose a location and begin to work on the terraforming process. During this, Ceph and Ollie get into an argument, as they are often wont to do. During the course of this, Ceph reveals that they were in contact with an Operator. Ollie marks them as a traitor, but Ceph argues that there was no one on Untitled they felt they could trust, and further, that at the end of the previous world, they thought they were going to die. They blame Ollie for this, but at the end, it’s clear both of them have deeply complicated feelings for another that neither of them are willing to examine.

Homesick and looking for familiarity, Faulkner seeks out the Wizard for a conversation. The two of them talk about Faulkner’s old world, the home he left behind, and losing his connection to the stars. Faulkner is angry that he still hasn’t figured out why he was drawn here, and upset with the stars that they would abandon him so easily. The Wizard gives his advice, which is that there may be ways to help Faulkner get home, or at least, try to find a way home. He also cautions that there might not be a way home, and that the Code works in mysterious ways. Faulkner just shakes his head, and says that all he cares about now is a why. Why was he drawn here? What’s the point of it all? The Wizard wishes he could give a solid answer.

Ollie and Ceph run into one another while independently visiting the Malfaction wedding venue. They talk, argue, and attempt to kill one another before eventually relocating to the Malfaction bar and strip club below the train station. There, Ceph accidentally reveals that they were talking to an Operator, and when Ollie reacts poorly to this, Ceph tells him that there was no one in Untitled that they could trust besides the Operator. They dance around one another like they always do, ending with Ollie tricking Ceph into killing him.

The day has finally arrived for Doc and Ceph’s wedding! Guests mingle about as music plays, people eat and drink, and everyone marvel’s at the incredible wedding venue. Some members meet for the first time while others greet old friends with warm, open arms. The groom has to be wrangled by Prince and the Wizard after developing a strange sculk infection in his arm, but eventually he is dragged to attend.

Ceph and Doc are both apprehensive or against getting married, and neither of them seem very happy about going through with it. Prince, after getting sick from nerves and a whole lot of weed and alcohol, abandons his position as officant. Ceph instructs Ollie and Punk to take over, who proceed to roast both bride-groom and groom-bride. When Dan objects to the union, Ollie insists that he fight Doc to the death for Ceph’s hand. Doc forfeits, and Dan can’t bring himself someone to fight someone who doesn’t want to fight back. Ceph has grown fed up with the whole situation, and leaves while no one is looking.

In the scuffle, Finch takes the stage, and they present a gift and a toast to the couple that will never be. They warn against outside parties that are NOT their friend, vaguely mentioning Prince and his love of the sculk. The gift in question, is a whole load of TNT. However, the blast is stopped short as it only blows up the altar – and Finch with it.

The Wizard, much to the chagrin of his fellow members of Corroded, reveals that he stopped the TNT explosion from happening. He didn’t want anyone to get hurt, and thought the TNT was not the right thing to do. The Wizard calls for a resigning of the Peace Treaty, to reexamine what it means to all of them. He instructs Joco to retrieve it and the Dragon Egg. Joco does so, but messages the group when the egg is nowhere to be found. Dan is immediately enraged, and the Wizard begins to spiral as his believed “symbol” of the relationship between factions has been stolen.

When Joco returns, and confirms that, indeed, the egg is gone, the Wizard snaps. He places down a lever, and instructs Finch to do what they wanted to all along. Finch pulls the lever and the entire building explodes. Ollie and Faulkner manage to escape into the Nether before this happens. As everyone dies, the event is capped by a final death message “Prince was slain by the Ritual”.

When everyone respawns, the Wizard declares that the Peace Treaty is null and void. He tells Corroded to regroup, but not before thinking he sees Prince in the distance. The Wizard tries to find him, thinking he might have the stolen egg, and instead finds a hole in the ground, containing an altar and a corpse. Prince is dead, and has left a body behind.

Finch and Ion discuss the event, with both of their views of the world having been changed significantly. The Wizard takes Doc home, and the two discuss whether or not to amputate his arm, they decide not to, but to instead keep an eye on it. After messaging the others to ensure they got back safe, the Wizard returns home to read a letter he was secretly left by Prince.

In the safety of his home, the Wizard learns that Prince attempted a dangerous ritual to try and ascend to some form of Godhood. And whatever he did. It succeeded...
